 The Hero Would Be You...

Sammy D sat by the window in the library, her nose in a mystery novel. She was comfortable in the bean bag and the sunlight was warm as it shone in through the glass.

She sighed and smiled as the hero of the book hid from the villain in a dark secret passage. She looked around the section of the library she was in and smiled, she wondered whether Duais Castle had any secret passages. She giggled in spite of herself, shook her head and went back to reading.

Her eyes grew wide as she continued to read and anyone walking past could see she was so engrossed in the book that it seemed like nothing else was around her.

Expressive green eyes clouded as the owner read the last line of the book. The story was over, a trilogy complete, no need to continue on. Which meant that Alexis O'dell was now bookless. That was never a good thing. Her mind tended to wander without a book, to things that she didn't like to think about. So that would mean that she would have to make a trip.

Down to the Library...

She sighed heavily and a few strands of light light blonde hair fell in front of her face. She brushed them away and thought about what type of book she would like to read. Alexis had always like mystery books. They were entertaining, and usually, didn't cause much of a problem when it came to making things fit.

So mystery. Maybe Nancy Drew...old style, but still good...

Light footsteps echoed as she walked up to the room where all the books were filled. People would be scattered around the chairs and bean bags on most days, but today, it was only Alexis and another girl. She didn't really note the other girl, other than she was glad she was wearing gloves today.

That proved helpful as Alexis went tumbling over the other girl's chair, not noticing how close to it she had really gotten. Her foot had caught on the side of the bean bag, and she'd found that instead of moving like a regular chair, she'd been kind of sorta of sucked back into the chair and unallowed to move forward.

"I'm so sorry!"

The Irish accent was thick in her voice as she spoke, and she blushed a deep deep red.

Sammy didn't notice anything, no shadows, no noise, not until she felt her beanbag be kicked and someone tripping over her legs.

She gasped in surprise and lowered her book quickly to see who it had been and if they were alright.

"Are you alright?" she asked closing her book, leaving her thumbs in the book so she wouldn't lose her place. she looked at the girl with a worried smile and laughed lightly and shook her head.

"You don't need to be sorry. I'm sure it happens all the time." She leaned forward and then noticed the girl's gloves. She tilted her head curiously but looked quickly back to the girl's face with another smile.

Still on the ground, Alexis could see the other girl's eyes on her hands, gloved and sheathed...safe. This always happened to her, for as long as she had been here, she'd covered her hands, and people had questioned her on it. Sometimes people were crurious, sometimes people were cruel. Sometimes what they said just plain hurt.

With those thoughts, she hid her hands, making sure none of the gloves were showing. No, she did not want to run someone off just yet. There wasn't anything that she could do to stop them from eventually finding out...but she could hold off a little while...

"I'm fine. I didn't mean to trip...it just kind a sucked me back in..."

ooc: Crappy reply...sorry 'bout it

(ooc- sorry bout the delay)

Sammy chuckled a little and nodded. "Yes, they do that." She punched the bean bag gently and then shifted in it slightly.

"I think I've seen you around." She said with a frown of confusion. "But, I'm not sure we've ever actually talked." She took one thumb out of the book and held her hand out with a smile.

She hadn't really paid much attention to the girl hiding her gloves.

"I'm Sammy. Or Sam." She frowned slightly. "It depends on which one you like best I suppose." Before the girl could shake her hand she'd pulled it back and put it to her chin thoughtfully.

That'd be because I'm usually hiding...

To actually be noticed. That was something weird to Alexis. She wasn't really that type of person, not really the one to be out and about with friends laughing and joking and patting each other on the back. Because it only took one mistake. And it was more than just touching, it was the over exertion of emotion that could do the same thing. And to think...she'd gone a long time thinking that people never really noticed that she was there. That she was just someone in the background of the movie that was never going to be noticed.

Was it sad that in her own life she played an extra? Probably, but that wasn't really what was going on in the Library right then. At that moment, she'd probably moved up a few rungs in the ladder.

"Pleasure to meet you Sam."

Ok, so maybe she wasn't the best at introductions.

"And...I'm Alexis O'dell, but you can call me Ally or Alex if you like..."

Sammy D smiled and nodded.

"Alex it is then." She said, she was normally shy when she was alone, but something made her feel like this girl needed someone as a friend, Sam herself could always use more friends.

"So, you into mystery books too are you?" She asked licking her lips and looking around at the section of the library they were in.

(sorry, really crappy post heh)
